Fatal accident at USJ26

USJ23 Neighbourhood

15/01/2003 - We have said it countless times, lightning does strike twice.

At around 9.30pm this night, a car smashed into another lamp post barely 50 meters from the fatal incident that took place on 07/01/2003. This time around the car brought the whole lamp post down to the ground. The front of the car was wrecked. Remember once again that this is the junction that leads into the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan USJ23.

The driver was injured but instead of waiting for the ambulance, which would probably take time to arrive because of the lack of directional signs, wisely left the scene for the hospital in another car.

Residents of USJ23, USJ24, USJ26 and USJ27 who were at the accident area could only look at each other and shake their heads in despair.

What must be done to get some attention here?

13/01/2003 - The USJ27 Residents and Neighbourhood Watch write to our ADUN, YB Dato' Lee Hwa Beng about the accident highlighting the poor condition of the road and to seek his immediate assistance in rectifying the problems.

07/01/2003 - The residents in USJ26 and USJ27 have been complaining about it for quite sometime now.

The road leading to their residence is not constructed properly and maintenance is also very poor, gravel on the road is a constant danger to all road users. As more road users start using the road to get to Putra Heights, its was an accident waiting to happen.

This was brought up to the authorities many times, but did anyone care? The whole stretch of road from the USJ23 trumpet flyover uptil Putra Heights has been neglected, but it seems that the pre-occupation was with putting up misleading Landmark signs instead of what was actually requested by the residents. Complains about road signs were pushed off and delayed.
Read about our request to have proper directional signage to USJ23-USJ27.

Sure enough it happened at around 9.30pm this evening.

A motorcyclist together with his female pillion rider lost control of their machine at the junction turning into the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan USJ23 and slammed into a lamp post.

The rider plunged into the narrow drain and lost his life on the spot due to severe head and body injuries and his pillion was thrown 15 meters onto the other side of the road and was in very serious condition.

A resident from USJ27 said, "This is ridiculous, we have brought this matter up to the authorities many times."

"And you know what? We have been asking for directional signs to our area and until today none have been put up, the irony of the whole thing is that the ambulance could not find our place. It took the first ambulance 45 minutes to arrive and one ambulance even came half an hour after the first left. We had to send the injured pillion rider in a car to Klang GH"

"The same thing happened with the Bomba on 04/10/2002 when a resident's house was completed gutted, they too could not find where USJ27 was and went instead to Section 27 in Shah Alam."

"Put it this way, how would you like it if you were the pillion rider and had to be in agony whilst waiting for the ambulance to arrive, or the home owner who can only stand and watch as his house is engulfed in flames?" he added "I am very very angry about the whole matter"

Its high time for Housing Developers to be held accountable for not rectifying errors and omissions connected with their development projects, more so for those that are documented and brought up to their attention. Their continued arrogance in snubbing their social responsibilities has been left unchecked for far too long.

But the real question is how do you equate a human life or human sufferings with corporate profits? It's really so sad, when will we ever really learn.
