21-07-2004 A stolen
Red Ferrari 360 Modena F1 (worth RM800,000.00/RM1.3 million when brand
new), was found parked at the children’s playground along USJ23/5C.
There is an entry in our
Security Guard’s record book showing that the vehicle with number plates
WJH 8 entered into our Taman on Saturday 17/07/2004 at 6.05pm but never
left. We assume that the driver somehow left in another vehicle.
Our security guards
became suspicious when they found the Ferrari left in the open and
started asking residents living within the vicinity of the parked car,
however, nobody claimed ownership.
The Police were called
and it was ascertained that the car was stolen, we understand that the
owner was contacted and a duplicate key was handed to one of our
resident and it was driven to the Polis Balai at USJ8 on the evening of
Tuesday, 20/07/2004. Our Security Manager, M. Ravin made a police report
of what transpired. We understand from Chief Inspector Shanmugam of
Balai Polis USJ8 that the car was reported stolen in Brickfields.
There are however
important questions that need to be answered:
-
Why was the stolen
Ferrari with No. plate WJH 8 parked at our Taman?
-
Why did the thief park
the car in front of house No.8 who’s owner incidentally owns a car
with the number “8”.
-
How did the driver
leave after the stolen vehicle was parked at our Taman,
without our guard’s knowledge?
It is ironic that we have
employed security guards to look after our Taman but have instead
attracted criminals to make use of our haven to conduct their
activities.
We are fortunate to
have Guards to look after our security, but it is very important that
Residents continue to be vigilant of their surroundings.
So how fast can the
car go?
It is a crime to ask such
a question of this car, but to give you an idea, it is a 395-horse
powerhouse and the gear shift is controlled with two paddles mounted on
the steering column similar to those used by Michael Schumacher in his
Formula 1 race car.
