30/11/2002 - To complement the
Kempen Anti Pecah Rumah initiated by MCPF for the Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri
holidays, IPD Shah Alam launched the
Kempen
Rumah Selamat Semasa Bercuti Tahun 2002
at the Summit City USJ 1, on Saturday. This
event, the original brainchild of ACP Tuan Hussin Ismail (OCPD Shah Alam)
and held for the 2nd consecutive year, was launched by Selangor CPO, Dato'
Hj. Mohd Noor bin Hj. Hamat.
Also present during the launch were
Dato' Lee Hwa Beng (ADUN Subang Jaya), Dato' Mohd Zin Mohamad (MP Shah
Alam), Mr. Ong Bok Siong (CEO, Meda Inc. Bhd.), representatives of
resident associations and members of neighbourhood watches in USJ.
CPO Mohd Noor said that whenever the police and the
public worked together in previous campaigns there was a significant drop
in the crime rate index. He believed this was due to public awareness
created during such campaigns.
“A total of 36,275 cases were reported in Selangor from January to
October last year while 35,425 were reported in the same duration this
year,’’ said Mohd Noor, "a drop of 2.3%"
Dato' Lee Hwa Beng urged the public to make full use of
the campaign. “Residents can have peace of mind knowing that the police
are keeping a close watch on their houses whilst they were away on
holiday." He later extended the very best wishes on behalf of all
Residents in Subang to ACP Tuan Hussin Ismail who will be transferred to
Perak to assume more responsibilities.
As with the previous year, forms are available through
your Resident Association, Neighbourhood Watch Group and at the Shah Alam
police stations in Section 6, Section 15, USJ8 and the district
headquarters at Section 11
Electronic forms are also available from Dato' Lee Hwa
Beng's website www.hwabeng.org.my
(printable forms) or if you are really high-tech, you can register online

16/11/2002 - Police
statistics indicate that for the first 38 weeks of this year there were
18,034 cases of House break-ins compared to 21,030 for the same period
last year.
This reduction was
attributed to improved security measures like the use of home burglar
alarms and other security measures like security guards, said MCPF
Chairman, Dato' Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak
during the Official launch of
"Kempen Anti Pecah Rumah" in
conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays at the Maju Junction in
Jalan Sultan Ismail. He said "The figures are still considered high
and every effort should be made to reduce it further."
This national event was
attended by top ranking State MCPF Police personnel and Neighbourhood
Watch Groups from USJ.
Also present during the occasion
were Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Jamil Johari, MCPF
vice-chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, Maju Holdings Sdn Bhd executive
chairman Tan Sri Abu Sahid Mohamed, acting city police chief Senior
Assistant Commissioner I Datuk Dell Akhbar Khan and TV3 chief executive
officer Farid Ridzuan.
Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye in his
welcoming speech had said that the foundation had printed
20,000 pamphlets and 10,000 posters for distribution nationwide. Dato' Sri
Najib advised the public to follow the guidelines in the crime prevention
pamphlets and posters to deter house break-ins during the holiday periods
At the launch, Najib also presented
